Personally, I'd spend the money if I thought the rest of the package (not only looking at the food) was worth it in my eyes.Sherman Chanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07658949865479421864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1524766856706642380.post-23160081789247185682012-01-24T20:57:48.427-08:002012-01-24T20:57:48.427-08:00You both make v. good points. But the inner white portion of my banana-ness sometimes just want to chill in a place like this:

http://www.followmefoodie.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Wild-Rice-2.jpg

Even if it's pricier and lower-value food-wise.LotusRapperhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04996696895446779820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1524766856706642380.post-33423448070745250212012-01-24T13:30:46.037-08:002012-01-24T13:30:46.037-08:00@Kim Well, honestly that would depend on my mood. ...@Kim Well, honestly that would depend on my mood. As much as I love actual Chinese food and the value, there are times where I do prefer the ambiance of many of the perceived low-value restaurants. If I had to do this everyday, no I would not waste my money on non-essential things. But there are times when I do not mind paying more for the overall experience, even if the food is not a great value nor that authentic. I would say that WR fits into the Cactus Club/Earl's type pricing.Sherman Chanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07658949865479421864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1524766856706642380.post-29492342397520642282012-01-24T07:21:07.847-08:002012-01-24T07:21:07.847-08:00Hypothetical question: if you had $50 for dinner, ...Hypothetical question: if you had $50 for dinner, would you go to Wild Rice or some Chinese restaurant for dinner?

I have mentioned somewhere else that no matter how good (or bad) it can be, the problem stems to the fact that, well, we are Chinese and, for the same moola, we would rather go to some other more "traditional" restaurants rather than Wild Rice. If it existed by itself in the vacuum (or in the middle of Saskatchewan or something on those lines), I think we will be less critical in terms of "authenticity". Alas, when you live at a rock distance throw of HK 2.0, some of us "know better"...

That aside, in terms of $$$ and portion size, would that be comparable to "the usual suspects" (Cactus, Earl's, etc.?)KimHohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15195757018139139678noreply@blogger.com
